Erdogan meets with Azerbaijani delegation headed by Ramiz Mehdiyev

While on a visit to Ankara, Azerbaijani delegation led by head of the President’s Executive Office Ramiz Mehdiyev met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

PACE Committee holds preliminary hearing of Gultekin Hajibeyli’s report “Demographic situation in Europe and migration”

1.04.10 PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population hold a meeting in Paris. Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Gultekin Hajibeyli attended the meeting. Hajibeyli told APA that the PACE Committee held preliminary hearing of her report “Demographic situation in Europe and migration”. She said European migration experts also attended the meeting.

Azerbaijani court passes judgment to extradite Soylemez brothers to Turkey

Court of Grave Crimes held hearing on the case of citizens of Turkey Mehmet Sena Soylemez and his brother Faysal Soylemez, who are accused of setting up an organized gang and committing a number of crimes.

1.04.10 It is reported that, Elmar Guliyev presided over the hearing. The court passed a judgment on their extradition.

Mehmet Sena Soylemez and his brother Faysal Soylemez, who were wanted by Interpol, were detained in Azerbaijan last year.

32 members of the gang were arrested in 2004, but were later released.

UK House of Lords rejected the proposal to recognize so-called “Armenian genocide” and to declare April 24 as “a day of Armenian genocide” after one-hour debates on March 29, 2010.

She said she visited Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh for 69 times and thought that “it is high time to recognize Armenian genocide”. Cox criticized the UK government for non-recognition of so-called “genocide”. She claimed that Azerbaijan attacked Armenians of Karabakh in 1991 repeating the 1915 events. Cox also claimed that Armenians were deported from Nakhchivan. Then she asked the Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Baroness Kinnock of Holyhead would the government officials attend the genocide ceremony in Cardiff, Wales or not.

US Congressman Michael McMahon, who recently joined the caucus on Azerbaijan in Congress and stood against the so-called Armenian genocide, believes that the sooner Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved, the better for Turkey-Armenia normalization.
