Kyrgyz interim deputy premier flies to Moscow for talks

A delegation from Kyrgyzstan led by interim First Deputy Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev departed for Moscow Friday morning to hold talks with Russian officials, the provisional government press service reported.

9.04.10 There is no official information on who Atambayev will meet with in Moscow. "The format of the meetings is yet unknown," the press service said. On Thursday, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Kyrgyz opposition-nominated premier Roza Otunbayeva who told Putin that her country needed economic assistance to deal with "the difficult situation" in the country.

Rainy weather forecasted in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is working for including of Afghanistan-Iran-Nagorno Karabakh drug transit route in the UN list, said Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Commission for struggling Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking Ali Hasanov.

American Azerbaijanis and Turks have started a new campaign dedicated to the anniversary of 1915 events in Turkey, APA’s Washington DC correspondent was told at the Diaspora organizations.

8.04.10 Main events will be held in Washington DC and New-York.The Diaspora is planning to protest behind the Armenian embassy building. In the beginning of this week the Diaspora started distributing brochures in the US capitol, where they try to explain the real meaning of the 1915 events.

“Our first goal is to explain the US elite what that issue is and to make them forget about it”, - said a member of Diaspora Rejep Mekhmet.

According to him, the administrations in the US are using this issue as a tool for influence on their local politics.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with the head of the temporary “caretaker government” of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva, said spokesman for the Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Peskov.

Troops fire on Kyrgyz protests, government "resigned"

Kyrgyz troops opened fire on Wednesday on thousands of anti-government protesters who tried to smash two trucks through the perimeter fence of government buildings in the capital Bishkek, a Reuters reporter said.

8.04.10 Russian news agency RIA cited the opposition as saying later the government had resigned and President Kurmanbek Bakiyev had left the capital. There was no immediate confirmation.
The opposition said at least 100 people had been killed on Wednesday in the clashes that have spread across the country since last month.
Around 1,000 people stormed the prosecutor-general’s office in Bishkek before setting fire to the building. Opposition activists also took control of state television channel KTR.
Government soldiers earlier fired automatic weapons from the government headquarters, where Bakiyev had been sheltering from the violence. He has made no public comment.
Protesters earlier arrived in the main square on an armored personnel carrier seized from the military.
