Azerbaijani media representatives visit mass graveyard in Guba
31.03.10 Today a group of journalists has visited the mass graveyard in Guba created as a result of genocide perpetrated by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, APA reports quoting Guba bureau. About 20 journalists representing different mass media organizations visited the mass graveyard, paid homage to the genocide victims and laid flowers on the graves.
MP Vahid Ahmadov, head of Guba Executive Power Rauf Habibov and local society representatives attended the visit.
Prospects of solution to South Caucasian conflicts to be discussed in France in terms of Nagorno Karabakh
Elkhan Nuriyev, chief of the Strategic Research Center (SRC) under the President of Azerbaijan is on a visit to France.
29.03.10 Nuriyev will be a key reporter at the round table hosted by the International Institute of International Relations and Strategic Researches on March 31, which will focus the prospects of solution to the conflicts in the South Caucasus in terms o Nagorno Karabakh, SRC press service told APA. Members of the French parliament, well-known political scientists, economists and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in France will attend the round table.
Hearing on case of Rail Rzayev’s aide, assistant and assistant’s son to continue on April 9
29.03.10 Military Court of Grave Crimes held hearing on the case of the assassinated Deputy Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Rail Rzayev’s aide Anar Hashimov, assistant Aydin Rafiyev and his son Anar Rafiyev. APA reports that Islam Neymanov presided over the hearing. Public prosecutor declared the indictment. Following this, the defendants gave testimonies. They did not admit their guilt. After defendant Aydin Rafiyev gave testimony, it was decided to continue the hearing on April 9.
According to the indictment, soon after Rail Rzayev was assassinated on February 11, general’s assistant Aydin Rafiyev and aide Anar Hashimov illegally entered his office, stole great deal of jewelry, medications, DVDs and €200,000 from general’s safe. Moreover, Aydin Rafiyev and his son Anar Rafiyev did not return to the ministry Rzayev’s winter jacket and the registration number 10 00 HM owned by Defense Ministry given by Bakhtiyar Alasgarov, personal driver of Rail Rzayev, for delivery in March, 2009. They kept them in the Mitsubishi-Pajero owned by Anar Rafiyev by April 26, 2009.

“Effective measures were taken in Azerbaijan to reveal, prevent intelligence of foreign intelligence agencies in time.

Minister said anti-terrorist activities were being carried out by the ministry’s structures to protect Azerbaijan from terror threat.
“49 persons accused of committing terrorist acts in the republic were detained, a great deal of weapons and explosives were seized from them. As a result of the measures taken against international terrorism, radical religious 31-member group planning terror attacks was rendered harmless. Preventive measures were taken against the criminal groups planning contract murders,” he said.

“The passage of the so-called Armenian genocide resolution by the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs is the demonstration of double standards,” said Elnur Aslanov, chief of the political analysis and informational provision department of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration.

Deniz Baykal: The Turkish government must withdraw the protocol signed with Armenia from the parliament
Chairman of Republican People’s Party (CHP) of Turkey Deniz Baykal demands the withdrawal of the protocols signed with Armenia from the Turkish parliament.
6.03.10 Commenting on the passage of the so-called Armenian genocide resolution by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs CHP chairman said in response to that injustice the protocols must be withdrawn from the agenda.
Deniz Baykal said by signing the protocol with Armenia the Turkish authorities hoped that they would be able to soften the position of the US concerning the so-called Armenian genocide.
“The hopes have not come true. The protocols are not effective in terms of eliminating the “genocide discussions between Turkey and US, establishing friendly relations between Turkey and Armenia, regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he said.
Novruz Mammadov: “Iran is one of the countries assisting Armenia to live in these crisis years”
“It’s impossible for Iran to assist the solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group. It has no legal basis”, Chief of the International Relations Department of the Presidential Administration Novruz Mammadov told APA.

Iran has a lot of means and it can help the solution to the conflict whenever it wants. Iran recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. If Iran changes attitude towards Armenia, then it may help us. But I don’t see such a thing now”, he said.
A year passes since assassination of General Rail Rzayev
A year has passed since the assassination of Azerbaijani former Deputy Defense Minister, former Air Force and Air Defense Commander Rail Rzayev. APA reports that Rail Rzayev was killed near secondary school #172 in Ismayil bey Gutgashinli street, 300-400m far from his house in Inshaatchilar avenue in Yasamal district at 07.30 on February 11, 2009.

January 31 is the birthday of Mammed Amin Rasulzade, an Azerbaijani statesman, scholar, public figure and one of the founding political leaders of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
31.01.10 He was born in Novkhani on January 31, 1884. In 1904 he founded the first Muslim social-democrat organisation "Hummet".
In 1909, under the persecution from Tsarist authorities, Rasulzade fled Baku to participate in the Constitutional Revolution of 1905-1911. While in Persia, Rasulzade edited Iran-e Azad newspaper[, became one of the founders of Democratic Party of Iran and began publishing its newspaper Iran-e Nou.
