Organized criminal group smuggling from Azerbaijan to Russia rendered harmless

Russian law-enforcement organizations rendered harmless an organized group of smugglers, APA reports quoting website of Russian Interior Ministry.

15:31 / 23.11.2009 The Interior Ministry’s office in the Southern Federal Region detained the group, which smuggled illegal goods from Azerbaijan to Russia for long years. The group has been haunted since the beginning of 2009 and several facts of the illegal shipment were recorded. The group contained both Azerbaijani and Russian citizens. They used secret box in the postal car of Baku-Rostov train and smuggled large deal of spare parts of local cars, Turkish and Chinese goods and realized the goods in the trade network of Southern Federal Region. Six members of the organized criminal group were detained while attempting to smuggle goods amounted to three million rubles to Russia. There were more than 5000 automotive spare parts among the smuggled goods. Automakers said the parts with local producers’ trade marks were made in China and Turkey and didn’t’ meet standards of quality. The smugglers will be charged with article 188.4 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
