American Turks propose Armenians reconcile

11:34 / 15.12.2009 American Turkish organizations called on the US Congress members to reconcile them with Armenians. According to APA’s Washington DC correspondent, a number of Turkish Diaspora organizations, including Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) have proposed Congress members to urge Armenians to reconcile with Turks instead of digging out historical problems.
The Turkish organizations are stating out that while the Turkish Armenian normalization is taking place and the Turkish-Armenian relationship is quite critical, Armenian Diaspora is raising “genocide” claims at US Congress. Despite that there is another task for them – to solve their real problems with Turks and Azerbaijanis.
They believe if the Congress members will support the Armenians’ claims that will be a huge mistake and a big hit for the normalization process between the two nations.
That’s why US Turks are urging the Congress members to reconcile the two nations instead of confronting them.
“Our government in Turkey has started the historical reconciliation process with Armenians, but on the other hand, US Armenians are continuing their anti-Turkish activities. They show their real faces. But the problem is that a number of Congress members also support their double standard policy” – one of the Turkish Diaspora’s members in Washington DC, Mehmet Ozgunar told APA’s correspondent.
He is stressing that with their reconciliation message they send Armenians an open message. “Show your sincerity!”
