Kurmanbek Bakiyev calls on world leaders not to recognize Kyrgyz interim government

Ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, has denied his resignation from the presidential post.

17:32 / 21.04.2010 Bakiyev, who is currently in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, had fled Kyrgyzstan amid mass national protests.

He has expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the uprisings and said he is ready to answer to the law.

"There is no power which will make me resign from the presidential post," Bakiyev said. "Kyrgyzstan will not be anyone’s colony. It will continue to build a democratic state."

He also called for world leaders not to recognize the Kyrgyz interim government.
