Yanukovych’s presidential inauguration on February 25

16:09 / 16.02.2010 The deputy head of Viktor Yanukovych’s political party says his inauguration as the new president of Ukraine will be held February 25, APA reports. Anna German, vice chairwoman of the Party of Regions, tells The Associated Press that soon after the inauguration Yanukovych may offer the post of prime minister to banking magnate Sergei Tigipko or one of several other candidates.Tigipko came in third place during the first round of the presidential ballot on Jan. 17.Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who lost the presidential runoff vote Feb. 7, has refused to concede defeat. She is mounting a series of court challenges to the election results, alleging fraud.German says Tymoshenko must concede and resign her post to ensure a stable transition of power.
