Ali Hasanov: Anti-American propaganda is not carried on in Azerbaijan

“Unfortunately some media regards the protest of Azerbaijani people, parliament, Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Karabakh against the aid allocated by the US to Karabakh separatists as anti-American campaign.

22:18 / 17.12.2009 Anti-American propaganda is not carried on in Azerbaijan,” chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov said, APA reports. According to the department chief, Azerbaijan and US are strategic allies, Azerbaijan is committed to this alliance and ready to continue this policy.

Ali Hasanov mentioned that the U.S. Congress had been allocating aid to Nagorno Karabakh Armenians for years.
“Of course, we are not against the allocation of aid to the needy people in Nagorno Karabakh. But it is the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh that needs aid. They have been displaced from their native lands, were obliged to live in tents. We want the U.S. society to take this into consideration. These aids strengthen ethnic separatism in Nagorno Karabakh and have negative influence on the solution of the problem. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Presidential Administration, parliament make appeals to the US,” he said.

According to Ali Hasanov, the US is a state pursuing world policy and its decisions can not be based on the casual proposals of the congressmen.
“Anyway, the U.S. government has been informed about this discontent. Our task is to protest against injustice. The United States should take into account the discontents to protect its image,” he said.
