President Ilham Aliyev receives participants of First Azerbaijan-Russia Forum on Humanitarian Cooperation

14:46 / 23.01.2010 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Friday participants of the first Azerbaijan-Russia forum on humanitarian cooperation, APA reports quoting AzerTag information agency.
The President stressed the importance of the Azerbaijan-Russia forum. The Head of State noted the event helps to expand successfully developing Azerbaijan-Russia relations in a variety of fields including the humanitarian one.
The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the importance of attracting various groups of the Russian and Azerbaijani public to deepen dynamically developing bilateral ties.
The Head of State said humanitarian cooperation between the two countries is actively expanding. The President emphasized the forum would give an impetus to strengthening bilateral relationship.
President Ilham Aliyev underlined that there is enormous potential for developing relations.
The Head of State underscored the importance of relations between civil societies, as well as mass media, saying relevant cooperation plays a significant role in determining political course of nations.
The President noted friendly relations between “our countries” contribute to boosting economic cooperation.
He pointed out the first Azerbaijan-Russian forum on humanitarian cooperation provides a good opportunity for awareness-raising about Azerbaijan`s accomplishments in the humanitarian sphere.
The Head of State underlined that Azerbaijan actively participates in promoting humanitarian cooperation in the CIS area.
During the meeting President Ilham Aliyev presented first deputy director of ITAR-TASS news agency Mikhail Gusman with “Dostlug” Order for his contribution to developing cultural cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations.
Mikhail Gusman thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the order.
For the organization of the Forum and warm hospitality President Ilham Aliyev was thanked by Russian culture minister Alexander Avdeyev, Russian President`s special envoy for International and Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, writer Edward Topol, People`s Artist of the USSR Joseph Kobzon, deputy chairman of the State Duma`s International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky, rector of Russian State Humanitarian University, head of Russia-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Yefim Pivovar, deputy chairman of the Federation Council`s Committee on Economic Policy, Entrepreneurship and Property Andrei Khazin.
They said the Forum would contribute to development of relations between the two countries, and stressed the necessity to hold it in the future.
