Armenians destroy cemetery in Gazakh region of Azerbaijan

The cemetery in the occupied Gizilhajili village of Gazakh region has been destroyed by Armenians, deputy chief of Gazakh region police office Adalat Sadigov told APA.

On the night of January 7-8, the cemetery was destroyed by unknown persons, the tombstones of over 30 graves were broken,” he said.

Sadigov said they did not doubt that the vandalism had been committed by Armenians.

He added that the fact was being investigated.

“We are investigating what has happened in the occupied Gizilhajili village of Gazakh region. It is impossible to say a concrete word about it now. After the investigations we will say what happened in the village cemetery, who did it,” head of Gazakh region executive power Rauf Huseynov told APA. He said it was early to say something before the evidences were investigated. According to him, Gizilhajili village was occupied by Armenian Armed Forces on May 11, 1992.
“Armenians occupied and burnt this village. The cemetery is situated near the highway,” he said.

Huseynov also noted that Armenians often violated ceasefire.
