Ministry of Emergency Situations sends construction materials to storm-damaged regions of Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan sent construction materials to the regions of Azerbaijan suffered from strong wind.

11:32 / 08.01.2010 First truck of different construction materials left Baku for the regions on Thursday, APA reports.

Chief of the material technical maintenance department of the ministry Ragif Muradov said strong wind blew on January 3-4 in the southern part of the country seriously damaged both social facilities and private houses. Experts of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are investigating the damages in the regions.

“According to the presidential order, the Ministry of Emergency Situations started to supply the affected regions with the construction materials until the specifying of the damages”, the ministry official said.

Muradov said that the construction materials were sent to the regions of Astara, Lerik, Masalli, Yardimli, Dashkesan and partly Lankaran. There were 10 000 asbestos sheeting, 1000 cubic meters of wood and 1000 square meters of glasses among the construction materials sent today.

The emergency official said investigation showed that mostly roofs of social facilities and private houses were damaged by the wind.

According to the official, additional assistance will be sent to those regions after specifying of the damages. Muradov said materials would reach destination under the serious control to prevent abuses.
