Azerbaijani President congratulates Orthodox Christian community on Christmas
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the Orthodox Christian community on Christmas, APA reports.
19:19 / 06.01.2010 “I cordially congratulate all Christian community of Azerbaijan on Christmas – nativity of Jesus Christ and send all best wishes. The monotheist religions existed peacefully and in terms of understanding in Azerbaijan throughout the centuries and played irreplaceable role in the establishment of welfare, friendship and brotherhood in the society. The atmosphere of tolerance based on the mutual respect and trust between the peoples and religions in the contemporary Azerbaijani society, which was established on the basis of progressive historic-cultural traditions, existing national spiritual solidarity fairly introduced our country as an example of tolerance across the globe.
Today our Christian citizens, including Orthodox community are an integral part of our society and take active part in the socio-political life of the country. I am confident that you will further fulfill your citizenship duty for progress and prosperity of Azerbaijan.
