Senator Richard Lugar urges US and Europe to consider arms for Georgia

US Republican Senator Richard Lugar urged the US administration and European countries to consider arms for Georgia, APA reports quoting the world news agencies.

18:01 / 05.01.2010 The lawmaker said that Georgia’s military vulnerability could lead to further instability in the Caucasus. Lugar stressed the vulnerable air defense system of Georgia and urged to take measures to strengthen it.

He said Tbilisi’s vulnerability could strengthen nationalism and lead to the instability in the country.

After the military conflict between Russia and Georgia in August, 2008, the United States allocated one billion dollars for restoration of its military potential.
