Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev meets with President of French National Assembly Bernard Accoyer
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is visiting France, met with President of the French National Assembly Bernard Accoyer, APA reports quoting AzerTAC.
22:06 / 09.12.2009 Bernard Accoyer said France was interested in Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev’s activity. Noting that the interparliamentary relations were developing successfully, Bernard Accoyer said he would do his best for the further development of the interparliamentary cooperation.
“There is friendship between our countries. This is also seen in your personal relations with French President Nicolas Sarkozy,” he said.
Noting that the relations between the two countries were also developing in other spheres, Bernard Accoyer said France’s relations with Azerbaijan were of particular importance during the world economic crisis.
“Our economic relations with Azerbaijan are developing. Economic relations with Azerbaijan are of great importance for France. Our interests coincide in this field. I am sure that our strong economic relations will develop,” he said.
Underlining the relations in the field of energy, President of the French National Assembly said France attached great importance to the energy security and viewed Azerbaijan as one of the most important countries in this field.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said the visit would be a significant step in the development of the relations between the two countries.
“The relations between our countries are developing dynamically and cover broad spheres. I am sure that our relations will strengthen in future. Our bilateral relations have been established on mutual interests and have great prospects,” he said.
Ilham Aliyev said the bilateral relations were diverse.
“Our political, economic and cultural relations are strengthening. We attach great importance to the interparliamentary cooperation and this visit is a good opportunity to view the prospects of the bilateral relations and concrete steps in this field. Our economic relations are also improving. We are cooperating with French companies in the field of oil, gas, energy,” he said.
