Child labor banned in Azerbaijan

Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) discussed amendments and annexes to some legislative acts concerning the implementation of Referendum Act about the amendments and annexes to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan voted on March 18.

23:20 / 08.12.2009 According to APA, Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee for Social Policy Hadi Rajabli informed about the document.

According to the bill, it considers to amend the Family Code and law on children’s rights. Rajabli said these changes contributed to the protection of children’s rights and banned child labor under 15. The committee chairman said those, who violate the law, will take the responsibility.

Gudrat Hasanguliyev said there was a problem with child adoption and he proposed solution of this issue. He said the citizens were waiting for long years to adopt a child.

Panah Huseyn mentioned that there were 200 021 000 children in the country, the social protection of children had been organized weakly.

Siyavush Novruzov said the care for children was always felt in Azerbaijan, new children’s homes, secondary schools had been built.

Ganira Pashayeva underlined the importance of taking serious measures against the violators and controlling the execution of the law. According to her, it is not right to involve children in hard work.

First vice-speaker Ziyafat Asgarov also underlined that children were cared in Azerbaijan.

The document was approved after the discussions.
