Azerbaijani mafia boss “Rovshan Lankaranaski” arrested in Ukraine

Kiev’s Goloseevski District Court passed decision on 40-day arrest of Azerbaijani citizen Rovshan Janiyev, who is known as “Rovshan Lankaranski” in the criminal world

23:15 / 04.12.2009 APA reports quoting UNIAN that Ukrainian Interior Ministry is waiting for Azerbaijan’s law-enforcement bodies to make a motion on Rovshan Janiyev’s extradition. “Rovshan Lankaranski” is wanted for committing a number of grave crimes in Azerbaijan.

Rovshan Janiyev was detained by officers of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Head Department Combating Organized Criminality in Kiev. Moreover, owner of one of the restaurants in Kiev, Russian citizen and his three bodyguards were also detained together with him. Pistols were taken from them.

“Rovshan Lankaranski” is one of the famous mafia kingpins. He was arrested in Kiev in January 2008. Despite Shevchenko District Court passed decision on his 40-day arrest, the “mafia boss” was set free as he got refugee status in Ukraine. Further, the court repealed Rovshan Janiyev’s refugee status.
