Azerbaijani parliament institutes Day of State Flag

Bill on “Amendments and annexes to the Labor Code” has been discussed and adopted in the parliament today, APA reports.

21:57 / 04.12.2009 Chairman of the Committee for Social Policy Hadi Rajabli gave information about the document. Rajabli noted that the bill offers to mark November 9 as Day of State Flag in Azerbaijan and declare that date a nonworking day.

Mentioning that the flag is one of the state symbols of Azerbaijan Hadi Rajabli said the bill is of great importance.

MP Nasib Nasibli made a number of proposals. He offered to mark January 20 – as Resistance Day, May 28 – National Independence Day, October 18 – Day of Restoration of Independence, September 15 – Day of Baku’s liberation from Occupation and Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Day. He also offered to cancel May 9 – Day of Victory over Fascism.

First Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov said none of the proposals is real. According to him, it is inexpedient to mark January 20 as a holiday.

Amendments and annexes to the Code were approved after discussions.
