Azerbaijani lawmaker proposes to postpone parliamentary elections

“Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan next year should be postponed”, member of the parliament Aydin Hasanov proposed it at the parliament on Friday, APA reports.

22:14 / 14.11.2009 “Yesterday the minister of finance said that 50 million AZN was allocated from the budget for the parliamentary elections next year. What is need to allocate such resources to the elections while financial crisis in the world? Thousands of international observers will arrive in the country and it is additional expenditure to receive and host them. Then they will say different opinions about us”. Hasanov reminded about the amendments to the Constitution and said the elections should be postponed until the solution of Karabakh problem and resources allocated for the elections should be spent to other necessary fields.
Lawmaker’s speech was welcomed at the parliament with applauses.
