Spring session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly may be postponed

PACE will make decision on whether to hold its spring session, or not, said head of Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), MP Samad Seyidov in his exclusive interview reported.

12:51 / 20.04.2010 “Today it will be discussed whether to hold spring session, or not. It seems that the session will not be held in connection with the volcano eruption in Iceland. Final decision will be known today”, he said.

Speaking about PACE President Movlud Chavushoglu’s possible chairmanship to the Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh, Seyidov said that such step would increase the weight of the Subcommittee: “There is such a rule, if the chairman of the committee is not elected, that leadership goes to the president of PACE automatically. The most important thing is the revitalization of the Committee. Each subcommittee would like to see them led by the president of PACE”.

Touching upon the issue on appointment of a new co-rapporteur for Azerbaijan to the PACE, Samad Seyidov said that this is likely to become clear in summer: “Probably, the candidacy of the new co-rapporteur will be known in summer. This procedure will begin only after Mr. Herkel’s resign. And only PACE can make decision about a new co-rapporteur”.
