Recep Tayyip Erdogan: I am confident Obama will not use the term genocide
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey cannot accept that the killings in 1915 were genocide, and he was confident Obama will not use the term either.
12:12 / 14.04.2010 APA reports that Erdogan said this in his interview to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour while in Washington to attend the summit on nuclear security.
Erdogan said the time when the killings took place was a period of war and revolts, and pointed out that the Turkish people also suffered terrible losses during the 1914-18 conflict.
"No nation, no people has the right to impose the way it remembers history to another nation or people -- and Turkey does not try to do that," he added.
