Initial causes of Polish President’s plane crash

Initial causes of the crash of Polish President’s Tu-154 aircraft in Smolensk Oblast of Russia have been announced.

15:20 / 10.04.2010 The cause of the plane crash was apparently an error by the crew during the approach to landing.

Note that the Polish president, his wife and 132 people on board died in the presidential plane crash in Russia on October 10.
Russian Investigation Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Situations issued statement that there were no survivors in crash of Polish president’s plane.

The plane crashed some 300-400 meters from the runway near Smolensk while landing in heavy fog and it clipped the tops of the trees, crashed down and broke into pieces.

Polish president was heading a delegation that was to attend the Katyn ceremonies in southwest Russia in honor of the mass killing of Polish officers on the brink of World War II.
