Turkish Foreign Minister: “Adhering to the territorial integrity underlies all the solutions”

“Unsettled conflicts in the territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia threaten security of whole European continent”, said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in his speech at today’s meeting of OSCE Ministerial Council, APA’s correspondent reports from Athens.

14:57 / 02.12.2009 He noted the conflicts had emerged over different reasons and parameters of each conflict must particularly be approached: “But at the same time, common international principles should also be taken into consideration in the solution process of the conflict. Adhering to the territorial integrity underlies all the solutions. In this context, I would like to express Turkey’s support to OSCE Minsk Group. We ask both parties to achieve result as soon as possible. Turkey thinks the increasing efforts directed to the solution to the conflict will bring lasting peace and stability to the region and it will strengthen the mutual rapprochement between the countries”.

According to Davutoglu, it’s not correct to approach the solution process of the conflict as an isolated one: “Georgia events in 2008 showed that conflicts called “frozen” are not “frozen” at all.
