Man commits suicide in medical unit of Azerbaijani Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service
The person, who was accused of smuggling drugs, committed suicide in Azerbaijan, law-enforcement bodies reported.
13:47 / 02.04.2010 It happened in the medical unit of Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service. Sedreddin Khangulu Seyfullayev, 51, who was accused of smuggling drugs and held accountable, hanged himself in the medical unit. The causes of the suicide are not known.
Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov told APA that he was aware of the case.
“As far as I know, Sedreddin Seyfullayev committed suicide in Justice Ministry’s medical unit. But his relatives have not appealed to the committee yet. Despite this, we will investigate the suicide,” he said.
Seyfullayev is the member of the organized gang that was rendered harmless by National Security Ministry and State Customs Committee on January 13. During the operations Sedreddin Seyfullayev, citizens of Iran Musevi Bagrabad Seyid Abbas Mir Tofig and Yusif Havig Seyid Karim Mir Rahim, who smuggled drugs en route Iran – Azerbaijan – Russia, were detained.
