Elmar Mammadyarov: “Referendum about the status of Nagorno Karabakh must be held all over the country in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan”
“If Armenian side accepts Madrid principles proposed by the co-chairs, it creates an opportunity to work out large peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia”, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov.
14:49 / 18.03.2010 The minister said Azerbaijan accepted some points of new version of Madrid principles, but there were some points which should be elaborated again.
“If Armenian accepts Madrid principles and the sides start to elaborate large peace agreement, then both Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Nagorno Karabakh can join the peace talks. In the present stage, only Azerbaijan and Armenia are participating in the negotiations”.
The minister said referendum about the status of Nagorno Karabakh must be held only in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan all over the country.
Mammadyarov said before determination of the status of Nagorno Karabakh, the Azerbaijani community of the region must return to their homeland. “Azerbaijanis must co-exist with Armenians and only after that the status can be determined via the negotiations. This is long process. It can not be determined within a day. If Armenian side agrees and Azerbaijani community returns to Nagorno Karabakh, we will find answers to these questions within framework of a special committee”.Bu yazı ( 272 ) - dəfə oxunmuşdur
