UN passes resolution on TASIM initiative by Azerbaijani government

United Nations General Assembly passed resolution on TASIM (Trans-Eurasia Super Information Mainline) initiative proposed by Azerbaijani government at its plenary session no 66.

17:39 / 18.02.2010 Mushvig Amirov, press spokesman of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, told APA that based on the World Summit on the Information Society principles, accepted at 1st round held in Geneva and 2nd round held in Tunisia, UN supports TASIM project. The resolution underlines the importance of information-communications technologies considerable role in the integration process of regional states to globalizing world economy, narrowing poverty, maintaining economic growth, social development, increasing women’s role in societies, maintaining tolerance and eliminate digital gap.

The resolution appreciates Azerbaijani government’s efforts in being the initiator of the project, its coordination works for involving the regional countries for the realization of the project.
