UEFA official site shows Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as Turkey’s territory
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan was shown as Turkey’s territory on the official site of UEFA, Milliyet reported.
13:37 / 08.02.2010 The map is in French on the web-site of UEFA. The reason why Nakhchivan is shown as the territory of Turkey is not known.
UEFA’s attitude has surprised Turkey press as well, because to now Turkey’s territories were shown as territories of other countries.
Elkhan Polukhov, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, stated that the Ministry will announce an official attitude on this issue.
“We believe that the Republic of Turkey as a friend and brother state for Azerbaijan will take a stance on this issue as well and will spare no effort to handle this issue”, he noted.
