Kyrgyz interim deputy premier flies to Moscow for talks

A delegation from Kyrgyzstan led by interim First Deputy Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev departed for Moscow Friday morning to hold talks with Russian officials, the provisional government press service reported.

15:28 / 09.04.2010 There is no official information on who Atambayev will meet with in Moscow. "The format of the meetings is yet unknown," the press service said. On Thursday, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Kyrgyz opposition-nominated premier Roza Otunbayeva who told Putin that her country needed economic assistance to deal with "the difficult situation" in the country. Putin said Russia was ready to offer humanitarian aid. Otunbayeva assumed power in the ex-Soviet Central Asian nation stormed by recent nation-wide protests and formed a six-month interim government until elections are held.
