Great amount of arms found during "Border-shield" operation carried out in the northern regions of Azerbaijan bordering with Russia and Georgia

A great amount of arms were found in Gakh region during “Border-Shield” operation conducted in the north-western region of Azerbaijan bordering Russia and Georgia, Gakh regional Police Office told APA Shaki-Zaqatala Bureau.

12:13 / 07.04.2010 According to information, operational research measures have been started since yesterday under the “Border-shield” operation in the north-western region of the republic.
In connection with this, additional police posts have been set up in different parts of the territory of Gakh region. The security has been strengthened and vehicles are control-checked. As a result of taken measures yesterday, Gakh police found 1 “F-1” hand-grenade, 1 16-calibre fowling-piece, 1 rifle type of “TOZ-8”, 1 rifle type of “Karabin” and 1 “UZRGM” firebrand. These arms will be sent to ammunition depot of the Interior Ministry for control whether it has been used or not. Nevertheless, 218 vehicles, 388 civilians have been controlled during operations carried out yesterday. 6 drivers were penalized for violations the traffic rules. 4 civilians were penalized for administrative violation. “Border-shield” operations will continue till April 11.
