ANAMA Director General: “126 million square meters territory was cleared from mine and unexploded ordnance in Azerbaijan in the past ten years”
Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) held a briefing for the diplomatic missions and government officials in the Guzdek settlement of Gardagh district of Baku about the work done in the mine-clearing field.
13:50 / 02.04.2010 ANAMA Director General Nazim Ismayilov said that Azerbaijan was conducting mine-clearing operations for 10 years and 126 million square meters territory was cleared from mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in this period. Nearly 600 000 mines and UXO were rendered harmless.
Ismayilov said the agency was planning to complete mine-clearing operations in 10 regions until 2013, but it was short-term strategic plan. He said it would take at least 8-12 years to clear the occupied territories from mines and UXO.
Ismayilov informed bout the mine-clearing operations conducted at the former Soviet military base in Guzdek. He said ANAM found special-assigned ammunitions, including limpet mines and D4 explosives. The mine-clearing operations were started in this area last June and the process will last two years more.Bu yazı ( 258 ) - dəfə oxunmuşdur
