Turkish National Security Council: “Turkey attaches importance to establishment of stability and cooperation throughout the entire Caucasus and is sure of working in this direction”

Security Council (NSC) held its traditional monthly meeting in the evening on April 29, APA reports quoting CNN Turk. After the meeting which lasted 6, 5 hours, an official statement has been spread.

13:05 / 30.04.2010 Discussions of domestic and foreign processes related to the security of the country were reflected in the statement. Establishment of a new government in Iraq after parliamentary elections held on March 7, taken steps against terrorism within the framework of Turkey-Iraq-US trilateral mechanism, results of presidential elections held in North Cyprus and Nuclear Summit held in US, Kyrgyzstan events, submission and recognition of so-called Armenian genocide in parliaments of some countries were discussed by political and military leadership. It was noted in the part connected with so-called “genocide” and South Caucasus: “Common histories of Turkish and Armenian nations may be assessed only basing on documents and arguments which don’t raise any doubts. Besides, exchanging views on state in the South Caucasus region it has been noted that Turkey is sure of attaching importance to establishment of peace in the South Caucasus region and in its working in this direction”.
