Sheikh-al-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh: “A bilateral protocol will be signed with Saudi Arabia to protect the rights of pilgrims during Hajj”

“It is normal that the government of Azerbaijan recommended to its citizens to avoid from travels to Iraq. We don’t organize pilgrimages to holy places in Iraq for a long time because of security of our citizens.

15:52 / 11.03.2010 We will sign a bilateral protocol with Saudi Arabia on May 2 to protect the right of Azerbaijani pilgrims during Hajj, to provide their security”, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-al-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh told journalists, APA reports. He said they invited the Iraqi government to sign a protocol, but there was still no response. “We canceled the pilgrimages to Iraq, but individual pilgrimage of the citizens is their private right. The government is also recommending the citizens to avoid from the travels to Iraq”. Pashazadeh said no quote change was expected for Hajj pilgrimage this year.
