Israeli government sends official letter of apology to Turkey

Israeli government sent an official letter of apology to Turkey. APA reports quoting the Vatan and Haberturk that the text of the letter has not been publicized yet.

19:56 / 13.01.2010 Turkish Foreign Ministry will make a statement after analyzing the letter.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has taken a stance on the incident. Lieberman says Israel has good relations with Turkey for years, respects Turkey and its people. He says they also expect respect and serious attitude from Turkey, underlines that despite divergence in some issues, the problems may be solved through dialogue. Lieberman states that they do not want to create problem in the relations with Turkey or dispute with this country.

Turkish Foreign Ministry demanded apology from Israel after the disrespect towards Turkish ambassador Oguz Celikkol. Turkish President Abdullah Gul said if Israel does not apologize by tonight, the ambassador will be recalled.
