Iran starts military exercises in Persian Gulf


The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Thursday morning started military exercises code-named “Holy Prophet 5” in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, APA reports quoting IRNA.

A range of home-built missiles will be test fired during the war game which will show the naval strength of the IRGC.

Various kinds of short range missiles will be also fired during the military maneuver which is to be conducted in four separate stages.

The ground, air and naval units of the IRGC will participate in the three-day exercise which is aimed at preserving the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, as the world’s key economic and energy routes.
