Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko says he supports Kurmanbek Bakiyev

Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko called the accusation against the Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev concerning the April events groundless. He said the country’s leadership had a right to use force against the rebels, APA reports quoting BELTA agency. “It is not correct to accuse Bakiyev in use of force to protect the government. If the government is not able to protect itself, what is a government? If such events happened in my country and somebody put the people under the bullets, they would got their full share”.

Lukashenko said the accusations against Bakiyev in misappropriation of budget resources were also groundless. He called the Russian and US positions “bad and not far-sighted”. “Moscow and Washington should strongly condemn the coup in Kyrgyzstan, but they didn’t do that”, said Lukashenko.
