Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner meets with Azerbaijani media managers

Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg met with the media managers of Azerbaijan on Friday. According to APA, they discussed state of printed and Internet media sources, situation after the establishment of Fund of Government Support to Media under the President, as well as issue of arrested journalists.

Hammarberg said he shared his opinion about the state of media in his meetings with the government officials of Azerbaijan. He said he met with the journalists, chairman of the Press Council and he would describe results of the meetings around the situation of local media in his report.

APA Director General Vusala Mahirgizi, Director General of Azadlig newspaper Azer Ahmadov, Director General of Turan news agency Mehman Aliyev attended the meeting.
