Azerbaijani parliament holds discussions to elect new ombudsman

Addressing the meeting, chairperson of the committee Rabiyyat Aslanova said basing on the 14th paragraph of Article 109 of the Constitution, President Ilham Aliyev presented to the parliament the list of the candidates for the post of Azerbaijani Ombudsman.

Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova, chief of Justice Ministry’s Human Rights and Public Affairs Department Faig Gurbanov and representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Azerbaijan Teymur Malikaslanov are the nominees.

All three of the nominees are attending the meeting. The discussions continue.
